Matt is a Director in Avison Young’s planning team in Bristol. He has over 20 years of post-qualification experience of advising his private and public sector clients on a wide range of town planning issues, with a particular specialism in retail, leisure and town centre planning. Matt has prepared numerous development plan evidence base studies for his local authority client on retail and town centre issues, including the provision of expert witness evidence at s77, s78 and EiP inquires / hearings. He has also prepared retail and leisure impact assessments for a wide range of development proposals across England and Wales for grocery retailers, non-food retailers and retail park landlords. Beyond his retail and town centre planning experience, Matt has also advised Homes England on a number of complex regeneration projects across the South West and has also assisted the Planning Inspectorate with its Inspector training programme.
