Avison Young brings island retreat to market

11 June 2019

Avison Young has been appointed by Bangor University to market 2.5 acres on the island of Ynys Faelog in Gwynedd.

Situated just off the coast at Anglesey at Menai Bridge, the sale includes a private beach, its own secluded headland, woods and a private tennis court set amongst mature trees and landscaped areas.

With stunning views across to the Grade 1 listed Menai Suspension Bridge, Ynys Faelog is a small tidal island in the mouth of the Afon Cadnant River.

Included in the sale is a 3,860 sq ft building that has recently been used for educational purposes and boasts spectacular panoramic views. Ancillary buildings include a single storey boathouse and garage.

The Menai Strait is tidal, so the island has pedestrian access via a stone walkway onto the mainland, and vehicular access via a tidal causeway across to the town of Menai Bridge.

The island has just one other occupier, owning a section of land and property on the north western corner of the island.

Jodie Al-Khafaji of real estate firm Avison Young in Cardiff says, “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. In the heart of a conservation area, the island of Ynys Faelog offers peace, tranquillity and isolation, yet it’s only a short distance to the towns of Menai Bridge and Beaumaris.”

The sale is being arranged through private treaty, please contact Avison Young, or joint agents Williams & Goodwin.
