Coggins returns to Avison Young as leisure director in Cardiff

Global real estate advisor Avison Young has announced the appointment of John Coggins as a director in the leisure team, based in the firm’s Cardiff office.
John previously worked at Avison Young from 2017 to 2024, working nationally across the leisure team, before taking a year out of the business to serve as a director at Lambert Smith Hampton. John now rejoins Avison Young, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the leisure and living sectors.
Prior to his original tenure at Avison Young, John was part of the team at leisure specialists Christie & Co, focusing on hospitality assets including pubs, hotels and restaurants.
As a RICS-registered valuer and agent, John specialises in operational real estate across the leisure sector, including hotels, holiday and residential parks, golf courses and visitor attractions. He has successfully transacted on over £150m of leisure assets and valued assets in excess of £6bn.
Going forward, John’s role within the leisure team in Cardiff will see him operating across valuation, agency and lease consultancy in the leisure sphere, as well as acting as a director in the national leisure team.
John arrives at Avison Young following the recent promotion of Andrew Gibson to the role of Regional Managing Director, with plans for the continued growth of the team within the region.
John Coggins, Director, Leisure at Avison Young, said:
“After a year away from the business, I’m delighted to be rejoining Avison Young at such a pivotal time and during a period of considerable growth, particularly in the leisure sector. I look forward to leading the leisure valuation offering in the region, collaborating with clients and colleagues to deliver a best-in-class service offering. It’s fantastic to be back.”
Andrew Gibson, Regional Managing Director, Cardiff at Avison Young, added:
"I’m very pleased to welcome John Coggins back to Avison Young’s team in Cardiff to lead our leisure valuation business. With over two decades of industry experience, John brings not only deep expertise but also a valued presence that makes it feel as though he never left. His return significantly strengthens this key service line for the region, and I’m confident he will play a major role in driving our growth plans forward."
