Owned by Birmingham City Council, the site offered a strategic opportunity to bring together leading healthcare and research institutions and strengthen the region’s innovation ecosystem.
Our impact
Avison Young advised Birmingham City Council and the University of Birmingham on site disposal, development viability, and selecting a joint venture partner. We facilitated the sale to UOB and secured Bruntwood SciTech as development partner for a 657,000 sq ft scheme. Our strategic input delivered long-term value through a 30-year lease securing UOB’s occupation of 50% of Phase 1, creating a sustainable income stream and transforming the site into a thriving life sciences destination.
