Global commercial real estate advisor Avison Young has today announced the promotion of Guy Spencer to the role of Head of National Capital Markets. Guy will be based in the firm’s London office, as part of the continued expansion of its UK Capital Markets platform.

An experienced advisor with a strong background in business space and life science investment, Guy joined Avison Young as a Director in January 2025, having previously held senior roles at BNP Paribas and Strutt & Parker.

His promotion to Head of National Capital Markets represents a significant step for Avison Young and its Capital Markets business group, as the firm continues to expand its London teams and hone its focus on asset class specialisation to ensure it can continue to advise at the highest level for both new and existing clients.

Throughout his career, Guy has advised on over £2bn of transactions, across a wide-ranging UK and international client base. Some of the high-profile projects he has consulted on include Oxford Science Park for Clearbell Capital, Watchmoor Park, Camberley for Anglesea Capital and Surrey Research Park for British Land.

The announcement follows the arrival of Richard Day in January 2026 as Head of Debt Advisory, who is leading the growth of Avison Young’s debt brokerage and advisory teams to provide the firm’s clients with a best-in-class global offer.

Chris Pilgrim, Principal, Managing Director and Head of Capital Markets UK at Avison Young, said:
“Guy’s promotion marks another important milestone for our Capital Markets team, as we continue to innovate to provide a market-leading service for our growing client base. His leadership will play a central role in shaping our national strategy, strengthening our capabilities across key sectors and sharpening our focus on the most significant opportunities in the market.

“His energy and ambition set the tone for where we’re heading next, and I’m looking forward to working closely as we embark on this next chapter.”

Guy Spencer, Director and Head of National Capital Markets at Avison Young, added:
“Since joining Avison Young, I have been continuously impressed with the expertise, knowledge, research and dedication of the team here, and as we enter a new phase of growth for the Capital Markets business, I’m energised by the shifts we’re seeing across the market and the possibilities they’re creating for clients.

“The pace of change right now is opening doors that didn’t exist even a year ago. Being able to play a bigger part in helping clients capture those opportunities is something I’m genuinely excited about. I’m looking forward to getting started.”
